I just submitted my first short story to a pro scale market for publication, a 3,800+ word piece titled MOONLIT FAITH to Clarkesworld Magazine. This officially marks the start of my full fledged attempt at being a writer. As I’ve mentioned before (here), I set my goals realistically, one piece of writing submitted per month and so far I’m on track.
I don’t know what else to say. There are still butterflies in my stomach and I know this is just the beginning. If they reject it, I’ll send it off to the next one because I know this story’s meant for publication. If they accept it… I think I’d lose it just a touch, but in a good way. Either outcome there’s no going back and I must continue creating stories.
Thanks for letting me share a little joy of this moment with you.

w00t! Congrats on the submission. And if you crack Clarkesworld with your very first short, then that’ll be something to talk about *forever*
(cool thing is, they have such a quick turnaround that you don’t have to spend a couple months wondering).
I’ve tried several times to get stories published with them. Their rejections were always kind and offered comments once or twice. Hope you get accepted. Let us know. Don’t give up. Persistence is the secret once you’ve identified the markets.

Let me know the outcome. In the meantime I continue to read your blog.

Thanks everyone for the support. The moment I find anything out, I’ll make sure to post (which might be sooner than I think since my spot in queue jumped from 20 to 10 just moments ago).
Fingers crossed that I’ll get accepted, but I’d honestly be happy with a personalized rejection letter. A form letter won’t really do it for me, but at least that’s a new badge of honor, my first rejection.
Congrats on your submission. Here’s to hoping you get to lose it just a little bit. In a good way.
