I joined a flash fiction Yahoo group a few years ago and the best thing it did for me was to get my creative juices going. I still have a few things that I wrote for that group that I go back and play with on occasion. I actually posted a few of them on my blog early on.

I read your piece and really liked it. There were a few places that could use some smoothing and it looks like most of the people who responded saw the same things I did. I especially liked the ending. Didn't see it coming.

I've had 4 submissions so far. 2 were rejected with form letters and two are still pending responses. Not a lot compared to most aspiring writers, but at least I've started the process. Writing in a vacuum is demoralizing and unsustainable. Writing a blog (like you do) and submitting your work are the best ways to break free of the solitude inherent to the craft.

I'll gladly read your past flash fiction. You never know, there could be a gem or two in there worth polishing.

Good luck on the submission. One thing I've never had the guts to do was actually submit anything I've written in that way. Talking to Thersa in the group has been very encouraging as she definitely stepped up and took the tiger by the horns (holy mixed metaphors Batman!). Anyway, you know what I mean...:). I'll be interested to know how things go for you on that. I also need to go back and revise some of my other flash fiction stuff. If you get some time, I'd appreciate hearing your opinion of my previous stuff. It's all under 'Flash Fiction'..:)
